The G8 Conference - February 20th, 1980

The Governor General is dispatched to attend the G8 summit. He dawns a traditional black suit and pants with a light blue undershirt, but wears no tie as discussions are informal. He suggests the following.

"Talamh Dair has been a force of peace and assisted Franquebec in many cases. To maintain this doctrine, we'd like to remain impartial in the conflict between Whales and Talamh Dair, and, with the support of Talamh Dair and Whales, employ a taskforce of peacekeepers on key border points between the two countries."

"It's clear to the international community that we're witnessing the recuperation of New Order forces, centralized in New Fennoscandanavia. We're interested in furthering the engagement against the New Order through bomber missions and naval strikes against shipments. Furthermore, reconaissance missions to find and destroy New Order operations will likely be necessary."

"We support the Khartumian Empire in their review process to ensure a democratic government be instated in Fennoscandanavia. However, I'm sure you all know after our crippling losses in EZIC that we cannot engage our armies."

The Talamh Dairian diplomat spoke up, "The idea of peacekeepers on our border with Whales makes sense. We don't wish for conflict, but the Whelsh government is obviously looking to trigger one. If international peacekeepers are deployed, then we can finally pull our troops off the border. As for Fennoscandanavia, they've seemed to have dropped their Socialist style of government, and that is enough for us. We've decided to lift our sanctions and trade embargo on them and grant civil aid in the form of relief workers."

He cleared his throat before he continued.

"It is obviously clear to us that the New Order is now opnely operating on the Northern continent, and this is a problem. It actively acts as a threat to our national security. Something needs to be done. If we can secure the Fennoscandinavians permission to conduct bombings on New Order held territory, then we can hopefully wipe this menace out - or at the very least, drive them back into the shadows."

"Thank you."

He sat back down.

"Peace keepers!" The Cubonian diplomat says with disdain, "What in the world are Peace Keepers!?"
He shakes his head a bit, taking a quick sip from his water, "The Cubonian Federation is fully against the idea of internationally funded peacekeepers, not only does this violate international boundaries, but it's the same as foreign occupation and Cubonia refuses to take part in this." straightening his tie and a bit red in the face from anger, he continues, "Let the nations handle themselves, we are not World Police."

"Our main focus should be countering the massive New Order menace appearing globally. If the Scandinavians can't handle their governments we can divide them into two countries and force both to a cease fire while we work on destroying the New Order strongholds throughout Whales and Scandinavia." he finishes, sitting back down from his speech.
