Relations between the Frankish Republics and The Federal Republic of Gladitoria have spanned for more than several centuries since the foundation of the Imperial Frankish Dynasty. This includes a shared Latin heritage, and the development of one of the most stable and mutually-beneficial international relationships in the world. Tourism and migration between the two nations have increased rapport. During the Frankish revolution which saw the Republic's independence from the Dynasty and the death of nearly all nobles in the rebel territory, Gladitoria attempted to invade the broken land which resulted in the War of 1840. The borders remained unchanged and demilitarized when the war ended in 1842. Since then relations have remained peaceful.
Military collaborations were close during the Great War which continued well into the present day bilaterally through the United Defense Treaty Organization (UDTO). A very high volume of trade and migration continues between the two nations, as well as a heavy overlapping of popular and elite culture, a dynamic which has generated closer ties, especially after the signing of the Franka-Gladitoria Free Trade Agreement in 1974. The two nations have significant interoperability within the defence sphere.
The foreign policies of the two allies have been closely aligned since the Great War.
According to 1978 bi-annual public opinion survey, The Republic has consistently been Gladitorians' favorite nation, with 84% of Gladitorians view their influence positively, with only 5% expressing a negative view, the most favorable perception of the Republic in the world. As of spring 1980, 74% of Franks had a favorable view of Gladitoria.
