FRANQUÉBEC DECLARES INDEPENDENCE July 1st, 1840
Franquébec has declared independence from the Kingdom of Aquitania, following a quick and decisive conference in the town of Trois-Rivières. The grand move came some months after Aquitania retracted troops from the colony in order to defend against a potential attack from Svea Rike, as tensions increased over a Franquébec-Frizz border dispute. As well as leaving the colony defenceless, the conference leaders had cited other incidents of Aquitania's neglect for the colony, including a failure to unite East and West Franquébec. Aquitania is now believed to be in crisis, being under threats from the Scandinavian kingdom of Svea Rike and suffering the backlash of an avoidable declaration of independence. The king is expected to issue a response following a review of the international response over the declaration. The colonies that united consist of la Terre-Neuve, le Nouveau-Brunswick, la Nouveau-Gallia, le Québec, l'Ontario, le Territore du Nord-Ouest, and La Colombie-Francien. Elections are underway to elect the new Prime Minister, but many predict George-Étienne Cartier to win with the Conservative party by a landslide.
Will your nation remain neutral, support the new independent state Franquébec, or side with King Henry II of Aquitania? Your actions will impact the politics of Earth and may change the future, depending on how you play.

Svea Rike quickly begins to ferry troops over to their colony of Frizz, in order to protect and possibly become involved into the conflict, Scandinavian diplomats are sailing over to the newly independent colony of Franquébec in order to make deals with the newly established government while at the same time, their diplomats in Aquitania are quickly recalled from the court of their king. More Scandinavian troops are set on their western coast and southern border with Prussia and Vesnuovania to make a quick defense if either one declares for the Aquitanians. Convoys of supplies begin to be sent out to the Franquébecois shores, filled with Iron to supply the Franquébecois war machine. It appears obvious which side Svea Rike has declared for, but the official declaration has not been sent out yet. The Kejsare Of Svea Rike has expressed his explicit interest in the over seas conflict, and seems willing to use military force to further his interests in America.

The President of the Dutch Republic of Vesnuovania has been quoted stating the conflict is "far out of the scope of Vesnuovanian politics."
Vesnuovania has been reported sending more troops to both their borders with the French and Prussian states but otherwise seems very much impartial and neutral toward the conflict, should it arise.

Hispanian Support! War Declared!
The Kingdom of Hispania is the first to pledge support to the Kingdom of Aquitania as their oldest and only ally of the French mainlanders. The Crown of Aquitania has declared the declaration of independence unlawful and has therefore declared war on the new state of Franquebec. The Aquitania Navy moved almost immediately to blockade la Manche (English Channel) with their sizable navy. The Hispanian's have began moving troops up from their border with Aquitania incase anyone in Europe tries to fight in that theatre. With the imminent arrival of the Hispanic troops into Aquitania the Aquitanians have began loading a sizable amount of troops into transport ships to ship off to the North American theatre of war.
Despite the overwhelming support for the new, independent Franquebecois regime. There is still some elements of the colonial army of Aquitania remaining loyal to the crown - mostly concentrated in the East, with a sizable armies consisting of no more than twelve thousand men (24,000) scattered across Franquebec. With one army of twelve-thousand concentrated far-West in Colombie-Francien (British Columbia), another army in Nouvea-Gallia (Novia Scotia) consiting of 6,000 men, and the final, third army of 6,000 men in Northern Quebec.
Due to the large landmass of Franquebec, the loyalist armies are well-equipped but spread thin and disjointed.
Canadian Theatre:
Soldiers loyal to the crown of Aquitania have dug in to their positions.

Svea Rike delivers their demands to the King of Aquitaine demanding that he pull all troops out of Franquebec and respect their independence or that Svea Rike will be forced to intervene in the conflict on the side of Franquebec. The Scandinavian Försvarsmakten army begin to entrench in Holstein and along their western coastline in preparation of the upcoming war. Their forces that are being sent to Frizz are still on their way, defended by most of the Kungliga Flottan, along with their prize ship, the Hans Majestäts Skepp Karl XIV Johann. A token fleet remains to defend the Scandinavian coast line.

The Colony of Frizz starts beginning their defence preparations. The Colony starts garrisoning forts along the coastline of Frizz, and it's troops begin entrenching, creating picket outposts, and start cutting down trees along the coastline for a series of beacons to be planted, in the case of an invasion. Their fleet starts making picket patrols near the coastline, intercepting any supplies coming to the Aquitania Loyalists, and making note of any vessels that come by, stopping them and searching them. Inside the colony, they start posting in newspapers and other local venues propaganda supporting Franquebec and it's independence, villanizing Aquitania and anyone who sides with them. They start recruiting drives all over the colony, allowing Natives to be recruited. Troops are being posted to forts alongside the borders, orders to fire on any loyalists and supports of Aquitania. They also entrench, make border posts, and patrol.

The 36000 Scandinavian troops, lead by Johan Sparre af Söfdeborg, begin to arrive on the coast of their colony of Frizz linking up with the Frizzian troops that are fortified along the Franquébec border. They begin fortify along with the Frizzian colonial troops in order to defend their territory from any aggressions on behalf of the Aquitanians or the Hispanian troops. They seem to be prepared to advance into the borders of Franquébec at any moment. More troops from Prussia are being transported across the Atlantic after a deal was met with the Prussian monarch. Diplomats have been sent into Franquébec in order to form an official alliance between the two nations after they had both been thrusted into a war together.

Military Alliance Secured! Joseph Vanier, the de facto General of the Franquébecois Army, has accepted a proposal for an alliance between Franquébec, Svearike, and their subjugates. Svearike is called into the fighting for Franquebec's independence, and the naval authority of Québec opens up the St. Lawrence and its port to Svearike. General Vanier encourages frequent meetings for military strategy.
Voters Blocked The election for Prime Minister (head of government) of Franquébec has become jaded, as extremists to every party start blocking voting booths after concluding that their party has won in their constituency. This has resulted in an unrepresentative election in a time where a leader is needed most. As republicans in loyalist-controlled provinces are unable to voice their opinion, many call to establish the General as both head of government, state, and of the armed forces, resulting in much power vested into one individual.
Enlistment Campaign Georges-Étienne Cartier, the would-be Prime Minister of Franquébec, has been rallying men in Montréal to join up arms with their local reserve militias and constabularies in the fight against tyranny. The effort is expected to have more men join their local militia as the forces are evenly-matched.
Military Operations Begin Joseph Vanier, following discussions with the leaders of his militias, has issued orders to execute plans. Intelligence reports suggest a small defensive regiment has formed out of the Toronto Regiment to defend the Manitoba region of the sparsely-populated Northwest Territories. The new regiment dubbed the "Northwest Cavalry" is largely composed of colonial mounted infantry and cuirassiers to effectively cover the large swath of territory. Fusiliers were also invested into the regiment for defensive lines and for added garrison to Fort Gary.
The rest of the Toronto Regiment merged with the Montréal Fusiliers, a regiment which mostly relies on the firepower of its musketmen. The regiment would invest a small amount of troops to defend against the likely invasion point of the Third Newfoundland Army. The rest of the regiment set out to occupy Nouveau-Brunswick before the Nouveau-Gallian Army.

Franquebecois Theatre, July 16th, 1840 Military Recruitment
The militia recruitment campaign led by the Franquebec government could be counted as another success - another 3,000 men signing up to fight in the War of Independence! However, due to the slow nature of the campaign - there was but enough men to add a brigade onto the army of Saint Laurent - effectively raising it's number from 3,000 to 6,000. The Franquebec militias continue to grow in numbers, albeit slowly - it does take a very long time to mobilize.
The Royalist armies loyal to the Aquitanian colonial office gained a small surge in volunteers around Colombie-Francien (French Columbia) - amounting to a half-brigade of untrained soldiers (1,500 men) adding onto the First Colonial Army based around Fort Vancouver.
Hispanian SupportA small part of the Hispanian Armada based in it's Caribbean territories has been scouting up the Eastern Coast of America, mostly raiding Frizz trade convoys as well as trying to deliver supplies to the armies trapped in Newfoundland and Novia Scotia before the Svea Rike navy arrived. The Hispanians have mobilized their colonial Caribbean island and are poised to invade the Colony of Frizz should the war continue onward.
Aquitanian Troops - Svea Rike arrival
The large Aquitanian Navy holding a boastful 60,000 man army arrived in the colony of Cuba today, used as a stop-off point for the invasion of Frizz. However, with the arrival of the Scandinavian troops to her colony, it seems like an invasion looks harder by day. One thing is for sure, and it's that the war is still at a bloodless stalemate.

Svea Rike threatens the kingdoms of Aquitania and Hispania with action if they do not notify the loyalists in the colony of Franquebec to stand down and cease all hostilities with the newly declared nation of Franquebec.

Plea For Help Joseph Vanier, who had managed to establish himself as the de facto general of the republican militias, sends a plea for help via courier to Scandinavian troops stationed in Frizz. Espionage reports the plea for help is in response to a suspected invasion of Hispanian and Aquitanian troops, but not much else is known to neutral and opposing states.
Nouveau-Brunswick Seized, Push for Nouveau-Gallia Franquébecois soldiers who were unopposed in the taking of Nouveau-Brunswick (New Brunswick) have seized it and soldiers have faced minimal resistance with no loyalist troops available to fight back. La Première Division now pushes further southeast to take Nouveau-Gallia (New Gaul, or Nova Scotia) and to eliminate the 2e armée which is outnumbered 2 to 1.
Aid From Natives In exchange for "land concessions" and the promise to free the natives from royalist tyranny, Joseph Vanier leads discussions between many indigenous communities so that they may aid Franquébec in their fight for independence.

Svea Rike Ultimatium
Diplomats from the Kingdom of Aquitania have announced that the King of Aquitania in a joint-declaration with the King of Hispania have outright rejected the ultimatum issued by the Scandinavians, calling for entrenched loyalists in Franquebec to "carry on fighting, or King and country". Hispanian troops have moved across the Pyrenees - destined to move to the province of Brittany to garrison it from invasion.
The Natives
The indigenous tribes - mostly based in the North-Western territories have responded to the Franquebec call for support. A tribal delegation arrived in Montréal to negotiate terms with the new revolutionary government. Under the promise of potential land successions, the natives enter the war on the side of the Franquebecois. Not having having much except for a few hundred-man militias, it will take up to a week for the native tribes to raise a suitable army to combat the Aquitanian loyalists. This new take on diplomacy has impressed a large number of Franquebec's liberals, and is considered a win for diplomacy overall.
Battle for Nouveau-Gallia (New Gaul)
With the taking of New Brunswick, the 2nd Colonial Army of Aquitania quickly moved to combat the the approaching Franquebec army in the small town of Amherst. Due to the narrow nature of Cumberland county, the Franquebec temporarily caught themselves in a small bottleneck. However, due to the lack of ammunition, lack of morale and lack of numbers. The 2nd Colonial Army of Aquitania soon fell apart and retreated further into New Gaul - due to the lack of numbers, the main fighting force has collapsed and the majority of the survivors fled to their homes, looking to avoid further conflict. The fighting as a whole lasted a week and a half.
The Casualties
Aquitanian Loyalists - 4,565 dead, 984 wounded or captured and 451 who have retreated/disbanded
Franquebec Soldiers - 1,569 dead, 600 wounded, 9,831 still standing. Due to the capture of New Brunswick and the close proximity to core Franquebec territory, the fallen will soon be replaced with fresh recruits.
Civilian - 1,200 dead, over 2,000 wounded.

16000 troops begin to move into Franquebec, making the journey up to Labrador with Franquebecois approval. The other 20000 stay in Frizz, fortifying the coast in case of attacks from Hispania and Aquitania. Back in the homeland of Svea Rike, troops begin to line up along the southern Norwegian and Danish coasts, in order to defend from possible attacks from aggressors. The Scandinavian fleet is parked along the Norwegian and Danish coast, to ward off attacks from enemy powers.

15000 of the colonial forces of Frizz move to the southern borders of the colony, setting up picket forces and sending out small scouting patrols further south, to alert the main force if a surprise attack is coming. The remaining forces fortify the coat alongside the Svea Rike forces. The colony continues it's recruiting spree, giving a citizenship for anyone who enlists.
