West Corvis Occupies Eastern Tourraine
October 11th, 1910
West Corvis has marched 3 divisions in the province of Ranchambeau in eastern Tourraine, after a major disagreement between the Emperor of Corvis and King Claude Moulin of Tourraine after Moulin ceased iron shipments into West Corvis. The hills, mountains, and valleys are rich in the valuable ore, and is the source of much of Corvis's iron supplies. The new border of Corvis is directly meeting with Franquebec's border. The French majority in that province are outraged with the troops trampling over their land and forcing themselves in their homes. The puppet kings of Tourraine, Anjours, and Pouvlon have issued diplomatic objections to the occupation of the land, but no action has been taken officially by the puppets against West Corvis. The aggression and unwillingness to negotiate, has been meet with skepticism by the Dutch Trading League. Prime Minister Laurens-Jan Kleinhaller of The Free Dutch Cities, along with the other Dutch republics have organized a meeting among themselves to discuss the events in the empire to the west. The many other French nations have not issued a formal response to the actions of the emperor.

Issac Brunt, Head Guildmaster and speaker for the Guild-Protectorate of Ag Wenn, has made an official statement on the troubling matter of the occupation. "Immense empires such as the Western Corvis cannot trample smaller nations and feel free of the consequences. We staunchly support that the demands of the small be considered, and that their voices be heard. Violence such as that imposed by the Corvians is inexcusable--the extortion of peoples that request to be unfettered by your oppressive hands is no different. Emperor of Corvis, I, and the nation of Ag Wenn, and all those that are good in the world, implore you to hear the words of your subjects without turning to violent measures. If you do not, there is not a doubt in my mind or my people's that there will only be further conflict. Surely, if you choose this path, the world will completely understand your motives as a tyrant. I believe that you are better than that." In other news, Wennic mercenary divisions are still up for grabs, no longer being employed by the Nation of Kerntir. While the leader of the Diplomacy Guild has made statements in affirmation to Isaac's denunciation of Corvis, he emphasizes that the power of the Wennic mercenaries is in the hands of the highest bidder.

The King of the Unione Italiana issue a diplomatic objection to the occupation, referring to it as an "Illegal trampling of the rights of the French people.". He begins to send diplomats to the Constitutional Monarchy of Franquebec, appealing directly to the king to "Open a new era of diplomacy between the Italian and French people.". The king sends a telegram to the king of Prussio, asking for "Continuation of friendly relations between our two great nations.".

Prime Minister Cristoforo Vecera along with King Oderico Fiaschetti II voiced their objection to the occupation, agreeing with their cultural cousins on the issue - Union Italiana. Because of the strategic value of the resource-rich occupied province of the French nation - along with the fact this would be perceived as the Empire trying to muster absolute strength in the region, the Kingdom of Vesnuovania has also announce an absolute trade embargo on the Empire - with King Fiaschetti II encouraging other nations to do the same.
The War Ministry has saw fit to mobilise reserve divisions to temporarily garrison areas of importance in Vesnuovania, such as forts and factories of military importance. Regular members of the Royal Army marched North into the country, practising military drills in case of invasion. Despite this, Vesnuovania has not taken military action against the Empire.

Charles XI, King of Franquébec and his Ministers...
Following an emergency meeting called by the king held in Québec, the ministers and lords of the dynasty have proposed a bill to the King's Council to permit the King the ability to enforce stricter conscription laws on a whim, in case of an outbreak of war. As the bill runs through the legislature, the Royal Franquébécois Army is called upon to entrench themselves with artillery support on the Tourrainian border, and to prepare for a sudden outbreak of war. The King signs and sends a telegram to the Emperor of Corvus, the contents of which are not known, but speculators believe to be demands to end the occupation.
The King issues an executive edict stating that all trade with the Western Empire must be halted, at least temporarily, and in the interest of fair commerce, will sanction trading companies who disobey the edict. The House of Lords is generally discontent with the edict as it was not run through the Council, despite the strong support for embargoes against the Empire.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs sends a carefully chosen diplomatic envoy to the Italian Union to discuss the terms of a new alliance. However unlikely the alliance seemed, the second decade of the 20th century is beginning with international cooperation forged from the need of unity.

Corvis issues an official response to the world uneasiness to the military act, stating "Torraine violated the treaty between our two governments, in which they were officially established as a protectorate of our empire. In that treaty, they agreed to provide us with iron shipments from their rich eastern provinces and more.". King Claude Moulin has officially apologized to the emperor of Corvis for "Causing tensions between our two people and governments." He reassures the French people in Ranchambeau that "The occupation will soon be over and diplomatic solution will be met."
The French people in Ranchambeau have not shown any willingness to back down. Protests have been started in the unofficial capital of the region, Harauns, against what they refer to as the "Illegal quartering of soldiers and occupation of their rightful French land.". The leader of the protests, Armel Philippon, has been holding public speeches against the Emperor in which he calls him a "Murdering tyrant.". He asks for more international support against Corvis.

The Emperor of Cubonia official made his statement concerning the state of affairs for the young french nation, "While we do not agree to the occupation of the nation, if their King has made peace it is not the right of the people to rebel against that decree." However, disapproving of the Empires action has resulted in a public sector embargo of the Western Empire, while the private sector is allowed to continue trade unhindered.
The second and third Imperial Guard divisions have moved south of the Cubonian border to reinforce it supported by the 3rd Artillery Regiment. Several other divisions of both Infantry and Artillery have been activated and although they have not moved yet, they have begun training and conducting drill on the basis of quick response and shock actions.

A telegram is relayed to all non-aggressor states involved:
To the venerable kings and patricians who have found themselves involved in our delicate situation...
In the interest of protecting the sovereignty my own kingdom when aggressor states are found at my doorstep, I am in a position to call for a discussion to resolve the crisis that plagues my French brethren who are subjects to a tyrant. We should find ourselves in Roma, Vesnuovania when possible to develop a solution for the imperialism that plagues the heart of our land. I am sure King Fiaschetti will be able to accommodate.
Charles of Montroyal, King of Franquebec.

As the leader of Ag Wenn, Isaac Brunt, has expressed great interest in opening trade relations with the western world, he has agreed to appear at the Conference of Roma, believing the cessation of the hostilities to be in his nation's best interest.

Vesnuovania was quick to de-mobilize, most analysts predicting this to be a show of strength of sorts. Nevertheless, construction workers were spotted building fortifications into the mountainous terrain of the North of the country, with troops still garrisoning the towns there. However, the economic embargo shows no sign of wavering currently.
The Vesnuovanian King was quick to respond to the Franquebec government...
Dear Charles of Montroyal, King of Franquebec,
We've found your proposal for a conference of sorts to be held perfectly reasonable, as we Vesnuovanians have no interest in A.) Seeing a Germanic state grow stronger in the center of the continent, or B.) See French people be trampled on. We wish to take strides toward setting the stage for a potential meeting of world leaders. If you would be so kind, it would be appreciated if you were to forward invitations to any other states involved in the current crisis (excluding the aggressor, of course) to see if we can discuss a potential solution, and then when the time is right, present it to both the Empire of Western Corvus and it's vassalage Tourraine.
It is probably best to currently avoid military conflict, and I feel as if this could be swiftly solved diplomatically.
Signed,
Prime Minister Cristoforo Vecera, King Oderico Fiaschetti II of Venusia.

Corvis continues to remind the world that "We are legally occupying parts of our vassals land, due to them illegally breaking parts of a treaty that they signed decades ago." The Emperor of Corvis declares that the meeting is a "Meeting of aggressive world leaders in order to gain the moral high ground. They have no basis to organize this meeting and are now showing their true colors to the world. They want only to push their own agenda and take land from an legal occupation." The king of Torraine backs these statements and urges the king of Franquebec to rethink his position on the subject. The emperor reassures the people of East Torraine that "The occupation will be short lived until more diplomatic discussions occur between our two nations."
The opposition in the area continue, but they are unlikely to develop past public speeches and small scale protests.

As talks in the Vesnuovanian capital fell apart, the Kingdom of Vensuovania brought their trade embargo to a halt. It's soldiers continue to be garrisoning the mountain towns - supervising the construction of fortifications into the mountainous terrain. However it seems that the Vesnuovanians have dropped all interest in the crisis.

The Cubonians quickly followed suit dropping their public sector embargo's, although in reality it had affected nothing and was in fact a political statement. The troops on the borders remained and as a result a large and organized mass of troops now occupied Cubonia's Eastern Border claiming it to be a deterrent.

Franquebec maintains their embargo and military presence, and it seems they will continue to do so until the occupation of Tourraine ends.

Due to the perceived Franquebec aggression, Corvis troops begin to move towards the mountain passes between the two country borders. The Emperor of Corvis sends addresses the king of Franquebec directly through telegram, urging him to "Relent on the embargo and consider opening up diplomatic talks between our two nations.". Their troops began to build mountain fortifications between their two nations in case of military invasion from the French. The military of Anjours is actively moving their troops to their border with Corvis, due to direct orders from the Emperor to the king of Anjours.
The French people in western Tourraine remain mostly indifferent (At least, action wise) to the situation going on in the eastern provinces, but intelligence reports (If you happen to have spies in that area) that the people are quite nervous from the action by the Corvis military. A small minority curse their king's actions as "Spineless", but not publicly. In the eastern provinces, the protests continue but it seems to slowly be dying down as time goes down. If something doesn't reignite the flames of revolution, then it may die in its cradle.
